Kyle Benjamin Places Third in K&N East Series Debut at Dover

Sep 30, 2013

CORNELIUS, N.C. (September 30, 2013) - 15-year-old Kyle Benjamin placed third in his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut last Friday at Dover International Speedway in a come-from-behind effort on the fast concrete mile track.

Driving for Ken Schrader Racing, Benjamin qualified his No. 52 RainEater Wiper Blades-sponsored entry third and led three laps before experiencing mechanical issues that caused him to lose spots in the running order. A halfway break allowed his KSR crew to identify the problem and alleviate it for the second half of the race. Benjamin drove from 10th to a finish of third in the final 75 laps.

"We had a really good car," said Benjamin. "We started off extremely loose at the beginning and towards the end the car got really tight, but the RainEater Wiper Blades car was really good today overall.

"The Monster Mile has a lot of speed, definitely the fastest I've gone (in a racecar) which wasn't really too big of a problem. It was a lot of fun."

His remaining slate of races includes four prestigious short track racing events: the Winchester 400 at Winchester Speedway, the Governor's Cup 200 at New Smyrna Speedway, the All American 400 at the Nashville Fairgrounds and the Snowball Derby at Five Flags Speedway in Pensacola, Fla.

Kyle Benjamin is a barnstorming 15-year-old Super Late Model driver, who has run a sweeping national slate of Late Model and ARCA Series races in 2013. Hailing from Easley, S.C., Benjamin scored six Super Late Model victories in 2012 across four different racetracks: Lucas Oil Raceway at Indianapolis, Winchester Speedway, Mobile International Speedway and New Smyrna Speedway. He was voted as the "Number One Pick" in the 2013 Speed51.com Short Track Draft by a panel of short track racing writers and analysts.
