Ortiz Heads to Iowa for K&N East/West Combination Race

Jun 07, 2013

CORNELIUS, N.C. (June 6, 2013) - The East and West divisions of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series collide this weekend at Iowa Speedway for one of two annual cross-division clashes at the facility between NASCAR's premier grassroots racing series. Bayamon, Puerto Rico's Bryan Ortiz will be at the center of it all.

In the driver's most recent East/West combination race, Ortiz finished third in the nationally televised Battle at the Beach at Daytona International Speedway. The 24-year-old Ortiz finished 10th and 12th in two starts at Iowa last season and heads into the weekend with two finishes of seventh or better in the last three K&N East races.

Ortiz, piloting the No. 4 L&M Ethanol Maintenance & Contracting Toyota for Rev Racing, currently sits 11th in the K&N East point standings, four points out of 10th.

Bryan Ortiz, on racing at Iowa..."Iowa is a fun racetrack and always attracts a lot of good teams. When we went last year, our cars had enough speed, but our finishes didn't show that. The car we're bringing this weekend is the one from Richmond, which was a really good car. I felt like we passed about 100 cars that race, so hopefully we can qualify up front and not have to worry about getting through traffic."

Last outing... After qualifying under the previous track record, Ortiz started second where he stayed for the majority of the race before being spun with 35 laps to go. Lining up as the last car on the lead lap, he passed his way up to the seventh-place position, the spot in which he finished.
