Chris Windom Scores Mother's Day Victory at Kokomo

May 14, 2013

CORNELIUS, N.C (May 14, 2013) - 22-year-old Chris Windom clawed to his first Sprint Car victory of the 2013 racing season last Sunday, utilizing a unique line around the 0.25-mile Kokomo (IN) Speedway to secure the victory in the annual Mother's Day feature.

"The cushion was about two car lengths from the wall, so there was some room with experimenting with grooves," said Windom, who started fourth in his Jeff Walker Racing entry. "I chose a line that was far different and it worked out pretty well, I'd say."

Kokomo was one of three racetracks - Big Diamond (PA) Speedway and Lincoln Park (IN) Speedway were the others - at which Windom earned a win in 2012.

Windom will now turn his attention to USAC's Silver Crown Series, where he plans on piloting a car for RW Motorsports this weekend at Lucas Oil (IN) Raceway at Indianapolis in the division's 2013 season opener.

He is a former winner of the Perris Oval Nationals at Perris Auto (CA) Speedway and the Little 500 at Anderson (IN) Speedway. He won four USAC National Sprint Car features in 2011.

Windom is also transitioning to pavement Stock Car racing via the ARCA Series. He has two top-10 finishes in three career ARCA starts, including a third-place finish at the Du Quoin (IL) Fairgrounds.
