Chris Windom Claims Second and Fourth Place Finishes in Canyon Speedway Park Debut

Peoria, Ariz. (November 1, 2011) – In the USAC debut at Canyon Speedway Park this past weekend, 20-year-old Chris Windom finished second and fourth in consecutive Friday and Saturday night AMS OIL Sprint Car National features. Currently second in USAC Sprint Car National championship point standings, Windom will return to Perris Auto Speedway this week as the reigning champion.

Windom started the weekend’s Hall of Fame Classic opener at Canyon Speedway Park by qualifying 14th in his No. 5X Baldwin Brothers entry before finishing first in his heat race. Windom then raced to a second place finish in the feature, runner-up to winner Bryan Clauson.

In the second night of USAC racing action at Canyon Speedway Park, Windom qualified fourth and finished second in his heat race. In the feature, Windom brought home a fourth place finish behind third place Levi Jones, second place Keith Bloom, Jr. and two-night winner Clauson. Windom closed out the weekend second in points, 43 markers behind the leader, Jones.

The series’ next outing is the 16th Budweiser Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway. The three-night event offers over $80,000 in total prize money and will feature a new Saturday night format including qualifying, heat races, two B-mains and a 50 lap feature. Windom enters this weekend as the defending Budweiser Oval Nationals champ, and with over 200 National points up for grabs, he hopes to challenge Jones for the 2011 title with another front-running effort.
